Celtic Tarot" - Piatnik Game no. 1973. The artwork is not typically Celtic, as the artist imparts a modern angular style to the figures, rather than basing his designs on established Celtic art forms.
The artwork for this deck relies on bold angular forms. The drawings are coloured in a not so subtle style, the pigments applied somewhat thickly as they sometimes cover up the underlying lines. Possibly he used gouache as well as conventional watercolours.

Fantastic Menagerie Tarot

Greece

Pantoulas Tarrot

This tarot was the basis for an exhibition of digital collaged photographs during July 2012 in the Tailor Made Cafe in Athens. Following the exhibition the artist had these printed as a set of cards. His imagery is powerful, often visceral and it is skilfully realised, with some focus on bird forms. The deck is subtitled "A surrealistic view within the human soul".

Hungary

Chalice Tarot
by Lynda Stevens, Self-published. 2012.
Lynda Stevens lives and work in Budapest Hungary, though she was born in the UK. Whilst in Coventry England in the late 80's early 90s, she exhibited regularly with an assorted group of artists called the 'Dream Illustrators' based near the city centre, as well as putting on solo exhibitions. She also lived in Brighton from 1994-1996 and exhibited with a gallery called the Bear Cave. More recently in Budapest she has been exhibiting regularly via an organisation called Arteon.hu
She works mainly with mixed-media pieces on board using materials ranging from glass fragments, fabric pieces, gold and silver foils and wax. She undertakes both figurative and abstract compositions.
She self-published her Chalice tarot in the 1990s in a small edition. The Majors were issued in the Art Tarot series in the UK in 2006. This edition is a version of the full 78 card deck. Lynda Stevens wrote an extensive book on the symbolism of her deck which she made available online.

Astro Tarot

The Astro tarot by Esin Uzer, was produced in Istanbul in 2002. These cards are oil paintings of a new conception of the old Grimaud deck of 48 cards Le Tarot Astrologique, 1927, ascribed to Georges Muchery. So this is a reworking of an old non-standard 'tarot' deck, which is really a divination system based on astrology. Thus there are 36 cards which are the decanates of the twelve signs of the Zodiac - that is there are three cards for each sign the first covering 0-9 degrees, the second 10-19 degrees, and the third the final 20-29 degrees of the sign. In addition there are nine planet cards, with three others for the ascendant, descendant and the Partie de Fortune. The artwork for this deck is executed in oils, using light and brighter colours than the original Muchery. It is painted without outlines, thus uses the Muchery as a starting point rather than attempting to slavishly copy these earlier designs.
