Daughters of Aphrodite Tarot
by André Taymans, Corine Jamar. 2002.
Corine Jamar wrote a series of three detective novels, 'The Daughters of Aphrodite', based around a matrimonial agency in New York, owned by Mona and Lenni. One of these novels involves a set of tarot style cards. This set appears to have been issued as a promotional item for this trilogy of novels. It does not have a full set of illustrated Majors, but nine of the cards have tarot associations and relate to characters in the novels:-
1 La Lune - Lenni; 2 La Force - Mona; 3 La Justice - Inspector Trick; 4 Le Soleil - Gary; 5 La Papesse - Ava Beale; 6 La Temperance - Coeur Assunta; 7 La Roue de la Fortune - John Beale-Abbot; 8 Le Valet des Epees - Hoover; 13 La Morte - Von Tramm.
48 cards 110x80mm. Limited edition of 300, of which this is no 215. Signed by both the artist and the author.

Vision Tarot
by Tim Thompson, Carta Mundi, 1995.
The Vision Tarot was among the earliest photographic tarots as the software had only then evolved to a point where one could manipulate scanned images in high resolution. Posed photographs digitally collaged. Thompson photographed real chalices for the Cups/Chalices suit, old coins for the Coins/Pentacles suit, walking canes or various batons or sticks for wands, and antique swords for the Swords suit. The titles for the Majors are incorporated into the image. Published in association with US Games.
78 cards 118x80mm.

Les Arcanes de 'Etoile
by Philippe Rouchier, Editiones du Chaudron Magique, 2011.
The Arcanas of the Star.
Philippe Rouchier was trained in traditional painting, but now works primarily digitally. His training clearly shows in the way in which he models figures. For this tarot he uses drama, depicted in the faces and postures of the figures, to convey the idea behind each arcana. He earlier created 'l'Oeil de Myrddin' (1994). Digitally created in the style of oil painting.
22 cards 120x70mm.

Inspiration Tarot
by Medicator Dirk Gillabel, 1992?
In card sleeve. Printed photographically onto Kodak paper. This edition did not have numbers or titles for the cards. It may predate the printed version with numbering and titles.
After having taken a course in primal painting, Dirk Gillabel decided to make a major arcana using this technique. The paper was wet with a sponge and would dry out in five or ten minutes. Thus, he had to be quick, and also judge how the paint was going to flow. With primal painting one does not think or plan anything beforehand. He only focused on the basic meaning of the card. In a couple of cards he did let the paper dry completely in order to add some more imagery that otherwise it would be impossible to paint on wet paper.
22 cards 150x102mm.
