Printed on a reflective surfaced paper which gives a pearlescent effect. Amy Van uses the pen name ''Mi-Mi''. The drawing for this deck is very fine indeed with a subtle and lively line. The lines flow and glide rather than being mechanically drawn. The colours, though bright, are well chosen to be harmonised and well keyed to one another.

Touhou Doujinshi tarot deck. Japanese and Chinese illustrators contribute items. It comes with a large paperback with all the images illustrated and commented upon.
Hikari + Creative, is the design label and music label of an independent designer and musician, Tukishiro Hikari. a China based designer and electronic musician. In addition to music composition and arrangement, he has also done many experimental electro-acoustic music projects for CEMC (Center of Electronic Music of China) and University of Calgary, as research assistant and programmer.
He also has great interest in indie music creation. While he is based in China, his music has been accepted by Japanese Indie and Doujin music creators.
For design works, he also designed a lot of doujin art books and collections for Chinese indie and doujin producers.
For the most part these are either pen drawn outlines, coloured in a computer graphics program, or entirely realised in computer graphics.

Vitas: Personal Idol Diary Tarot

The strangely named Vitas : Personal Idol Diary Tarot seems even more weird when one realises that though produced in China it has the card titles in Greek! But that is not all for although the alphabet is Greek, these transliterate into either French or English. The question if this merely a muddle or if some subtle message is here intended, may never be answered. The imagery is rather good, being computer created collage, though the densely textured backgrounds fight against the foreground images and often prevent them standing out. There are some fine images here and though quite stylish the cards are immediately recognisable from their content. The cards are not numbered.

Angel Sanctuary Tarot
Kaori Yuki. 2004.
Angel Sanctuary is a shojo manga series written and illustrated by Kaori Yuki. Originally serialized in Hana to Yume from February 1995 to February 2001, it was later released in North America in an English language version. This is essentially a collectable produced for fans using art work from the manga, and there seems little tarot content. Some images are printed in landscape format. The cards are printed with a standard border and titles, which is used in a number of related tarots produced by this company. The cards are packaged in a tough polythene box. This contains a booklet, which was reused with different image on the cover in other tarots issued by this company - the Harry Potter and the Weiss Kreuz.

Weiss Kreuz Tarot
2006.
Weiss Kreuz is a series, dating to 1997, conceived by Takehito Koyasu about four assassins that work in a flower shop called "Kitty in the House". The assassins are members of a group called Weiss (white), which is run by Persia of the mysterious Kritiker organization. The Weiss Kreuz franchise included two seasons of anime and one OVA series, a light novel, two manga series, and several drama CDs. The four voice actors of the main characters – Koyasu, Hiro Yuki, Shin-ichiro Miki, Tomokazu Seki – formed a band named "Weiss"; several CDs and singles were released. Media Blasters released the anime in the North America as Knight Hunters: Weiss Kreuz.
The name "Weiskreuz" was the German name for a chemical warfare agent used in World War I. The cards have little tarot significance, being merely a showcase for the chatacters in the manga.

This is a promotional deck printed on three sheets of thick card for people to cut out. The cards are not scored or perforated. It seems to originate from Hong Kong from a shop called Witchyland - Witchy Wit for Body Mind Soul. Gladys, it would appear, is the owner of the shop. She does readings with standard tarot cards (Rider-Waite, Morgan Greer, etc) and runs some tarot courses. These promo cards are in Western cartoon style, with some rather original takes on the card imagery.

The Hanged Man is unusual in that it shows a pair, male and female, being hung from the tree.

Pili Tarot
2009.
Pili is a long running puppet television show in Taiwan. This is a full 78 card deck using photographs of puppets with elaborate hairstyles and costumes. There seems to have been little attempt to pose the puppets to reflect the tarot images. This is not an official release by the production company Pili International Multimedia, but was printed in China, the box bearing the label 'Poker workshop No.208'. The Battlestar Galactica Tarot was also released by this Chinese company.

F4 Tarot

This is based on the most popular Japanese shoujo manga of all time 'Hana Yori Dango' by Kamio Yoko. The storyline concerns the adventures of Makino Tsukushi the only poor student at Eitoku Gakuen, the school of the ridiculously rich and privileged that is ruled by Flower 4 or F4, a group of four boys who come from extremely powerful families. This deck would appear to be an unofficial Chinese release based on the original manga as it reused imagery from those comic books. There would appear to be almost no tarot criteria applied in the choice of the images. Two extra title cards.

Fan art deck based on the Japanese manga (comic book series) 'X'.
Clamp, is an all-female Japanese mangaka group that formed in the mid 1980s, consisting of their leader Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona , Tsubaki Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi. The quality of the artwork is high and the Major Arcana and Court cards clearly reflect the tarot structure, this is less easily seen in the pips.
Later reworking of the Clamp X tarot with many card images changed and with a different frame. Supplied in a box with a magnetic catch and including a book. 78 cards 133x55mm.

One Piece the Tarot

One Piece is a Japanese shonen manga series on a pirate theme written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, that has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since August 4, 1997. Later it was produced as an anime on Japanese television. Cards are printed onto a holographic film on card. This creates starburst effects when one looks at the cards.

Supplied in a transparent plastic box with a large book and a small booklet. The artwork is by a small group of fantasy artists as one can recognise those that are created in the same style. It seems unlikely that the artists created the images primarily as tarot, but that these images have later been chosen by the editor of this tarot deck. The images chosen for the Court cards are appropriate, but there seems no system for the Pips. In many cases the choices for the Major Arcana are appropriate, but others are a bit distant from the idea of the tarot archetype.

Battlestar Galactica Tarot

Battlestar Galactica is an American science fiction franchise created by Glen A. Larson. The franchise began with the Battlestar Galactica TV series in 1978 and was reworked as a new series in 2004. This tarot is not an official release by the production company. The box bears the label 'Poker workshop No.205'. The Pili Tarot was also released by this Chinese company. An attempt has been made in the Majors to reflect the tarot archetype in the choice of photographs.

Fantasy art compilation deck. This appears to have been issued as a gift deck with a novel. The artwork for the Majors and Courts is well chosen and appropriate. The suits are named Crosier, Sangreal, Star and Glaive. The artwork is among the best of fantasy art. The box cover has some artwork apparently by H. R. Giger. The Major arcana are labelled with the paths between the sephiroth to which they correspond.

Galaxies Tarot
by Fang Yu, Self-published. 2007.
This is from the same publisher/artist as the Maschera Tarot and Carnevale Tarot.
Each card bears a photograph of an astronomical object. This idea had already been explored by Kay Stopforth in her Universe cards oracle deck of 1999. The Galaxies Tarot attempts to make an entire tarot deck out of astronomical photographs. Some card images work quite well, a comet for 'The Chariot', Jupiter's complex atmospheric pattern for 'The Wheel of Fortune', but with the Minor Arcana it has obviously proven more difficult to assign a photograph of a galaxy, nebula or dust cloud to reflect any meaning associated with the card. So one just has to take delight in the beautiful images themselves.
The cards are laminated with the same sparkly laminate used in the other decks by this artist. In some lighting conditions when looked at face on, the sparkles somewhat interfere with viewing the image itself, but by holding them at a slight angle the sparkles disappear and the picture can be clearly seen.
